Hello, beach lover!

Welcome to the Port Aransas Explorer beach blog! It’s so great to have you here.

A little about me

I’m Jill Clark and a Gulf Coast beach-lover myself. While my husband and I live in San Antonio with our three children, we spend as much free time as we can in our home on the beautiful beaches of Mustang Island, enjoying all the adventure and relaxation that Port Aransas has to offer.

When I first started our exploring Port Aransas with my growing family in 2004, finding information about local events, kid-friendly restaurants or off-beach activities was a challenge. I remember how discouraging it was, heading off on an adventure to the island, wondering if we had everything we needed, where we would grab dinner in town, or how to find activities to fill our week. So this blog is the product of our experiences and advice for exploring the Gulf Coast through the years.

My goal with Port Aransas Explorer is to make it easy for you to learn what to do, see and eat in Port Aransas, whether it’s for your family, your girls weekend or family getaway – and hopefully inspire you to discover something new and unexpected. I want to help you learn what the locals know… that Port A has some true hidden gems just waiting to be discovered.

So here’s my 3 tips to get you started…

2. Let’s start exploring…

To be honest, Port Aransas is a great city. Despite its small size on a barrier island, there’s more than enough to do, see and eat to fill your days.

  • Do you want to travel to Port Aransas with your family?
  • Want to take a road trip to the beach, but don’t know where to start planning?

You are not alone. I felt the same way from the moment my kids could walk. I just couldn’t get to the beach in Port A often enough, it seemed. Let me know what you’re looking for and I’ll be happy to help!

Some families want specific advice on rentals or local restaurants. Others want to know when is the best time of year to visit and what there is to do during the off-season. You’d be surprised how active this beachfront city can be in cooler weather.

Many people want to know how and where to slow their pace, relax and enjoy island time in Port Aransas. I’ve got tips for that too.
