From the outside looking in

Let’s face it, sometimes you need a visitor’s perspective to get to know the best of your city. I don’t live in Port Aransas, but a short 3 hours up the road in San Antonio.

That tourist outlook that makes you explore a new city is what I continually use to discover awesome local gems every time I’m in Port Aransas.

There’s more to explore in Port A

When I first visited Port Aransas, sixteen years ago, I was completely clueless. Other than the obvious road to the beach, I had no idea where to find cool things to do or the best place to take my family to eat.

I met a lot of people who had been here for much longer than me that were convinced that Port Aransas didn’t have much to offer beyond fishing, the sand and the sea.

And yet, as I started venturing around town, exploring the parks and marinas, visiting different restaurants and shops, I found that the notion that “all Port Aransas has to offer is the beach” proved to be hugely untrue. There’s so much out there to see, eat and explore on this island.

Here at Port Aransas Explorer, you will find information and tips on what to do, what to see and where to eat in Port Aransas, Texas, Mustang Island and the surrounding areas. Think of this site as a bucket list of the best of Port A and the surrounding Coastal Bend to be explored, one day at a time.

Even now, I still get amazed reactions from friends and visitors when I show them beautiful pictures from Port Aransas and nearby coastal destinations. Most have no idea that some of these local gems exist!
