What it’s like inside

Built in a circular style building with a dome-shaped ceiling, Jay’s Seafood & Spaghetti Works is open and inviting. Once inside the door, there’s a small waiting area and Stephanie’s Stuff boutique for shopping before or after your meal. To the right, you can cozy up to the bar and grab a drink while you wait for your table.

Depending on the season and time in the evening you go, you may want to ask for a table by the back windows to get a prime view of the sunset. There’s lots of local nature photography and photos of the owners’ family hung on the walls, as well as photos from their original location built 40 years ago (no longer standing), which makes for lots to look at inside.

The bar area was recently expanded, after Hurricane Harvey repairs in 2017, to include more seating and it becomes a popular hot spot for those waiting on a table to grab a glass of wine, beer, or a Port A Sea Breeze drink (my favorite after a hot day in the sun). They offer a wide selection of beer and wine, as well as a full bar, with entertainment or sports always available on the bar TV.

My favorite book for beach bar cocktails is Beach Cocktails: Favorite Surfside Sips and Bar Snacks. So many good tropicals drinks to try, so little time… ha!

What to order

Oh where to begin… Seafood & Spaghetti Works has a big menu, as compared with other local restaurants in town. Not only do they offer lots of seafood dishes, but there’s also Italian dishes like pizza and pasta on the menu. But it’s definitely the ocean fare that has made this one of the most popular seafood restaurants in Port Aransas.

My teens love the spaghetti, pizza and burgers, while my husband and I typically choose the Jumbo Lump Crab-Stuffed Avocado appetizer, the Shrimp Tacos or the Seafood Feast. Whatever your taste, there’s something on the menu at Seafood & Spaghetti Works that will surely whet your appetite.

They also offer a great kids menu with pasta, pizza, fish and dessert.
